There are also some pretty good advantages to managing the updates yourself, f.e. The CUP MODs and RHS are probably the largest collections that are likely to be used and can be manually installed easily so are good candidates. You can use the manual install of MODs to get around some of the issue and you seem to be competent enough to do that -) But hey, at least it did free up 4 GB, so thats at least something.
